Century blitz sees Ronnie O’Sullivan win 900 Global Championship.

Ronnie O’Sullivan claimed the inaugural Snooker 900 Global Championship title after compiling five century breaks on his way to a 10-5 victory over Luca Brecel in Sunday’s final.

The seven-time world champion took control of the contest in Reading by winning the final three frames of the afternoon session to open up a 6-3 advantage heading into the evening.

O’Sullivan, now 50, extended his lead by taking the next two frames before 2023 world champion Brecel mounted a brief comeback to close the gap at 8-5.

However, O’Sullivan responded with his fifth century of the tournament to halt Brecel’s momentum before sealing another title, just a week after lifting the World Seniors Snooker Championship trophy.

The Snooker 900 format features 15-minute frames, a 20-second shot clock, and a ball-in-hand rule following fouls.

Speaking to Pluto TV, O’Sullivan praised the fast-paced structure, saying he loved the format and believed many professionals would prefer it because it allows players to complete more matches without late-night finishes or disrupted meal schedules. He also credited creator Jason Francis for developing what he described as an excellent balance for modern snooker.
