Judd Trump delivered a commanding display to defeat Shaun Murphy 10–4 in the German Masters final in Berlin, clinching the title and a £100,000 winner’s cheque. The world No.1 was in control throughout the evening session, pulling clear after leading 5–3 and reeling off four straight frames to put the contest beyond doubt. Murphy managed to halt the run briefly, but Trump quickly closed out the match to end a 14-month wait for silverware.
Murphy leaves Berlin disappointed but encouraged by an otherwise strong week, having beaten Mark Allen, Kyren Wilson and Neil Robertson en route to the final. Trump, meanwhile, spoke candidly about his form at the Crucible, insisting he feels close to his best and believes further tournament wins could set up a strong season. He also revealed that settling on a cue and having his brother available for training in Dubai have helped restore confidence.
There is little time for celebration for either finalist, with both flying straight to Hong Kong for the World Grand Prix. Trump will open his campaign against Yuan Sijun, while Murphy faces Pang Junxu. With a £180,000 top prize on offer, the snooker calendar continues at pace as Trump looks to build momentum from his latest German Masters triumph.
