Paige Bueckers scored 22 points and Azzi Fudd added 17 as the Dallas Wings defeated the Toronto Tempo 89-76 on Sunday at Coca-Cola Coliseum.
Bueckers continued her impressive run, reaching the 20-point mark for a fifth consecutive game. The 24-year-old also contributed seven assists and three rebounds in just under 31 minutes of action. Fudd knocked down five three-pointers on 11 attempts while adding three rebounds and two assists. Jessica Shepard delivered a dominant performance inside, recording a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.
The matchup marked the first meeting between the two teams this season, with Dallas improving to 13-8 and Toronto dropping to 9-11.
The Wings set the tone early, scoring their first nine points from beyond the arc and maintaining control throughout the contest. Dallas never surrendered the lead and carried a 47-42 advantage into halftime before pulling away in the second half.
Marina Mabrey led Toronto with 19 points, five rebounds and five assists in her return from a neck injury that had sidelined her for the previous game. The guard recently made headlines after matching a WNBA record with a 53-point performance against the Los Angeles Sparks on June 25.
Toronto was shorthanded, missing Brittney Sykes, Kiki Rice and Temi Fagbenle due to injuries, while point guard Julie Allemand was ruled out shortly before tip-off with an ankle issue.
Dallas also dominated the battle on the boards, outrebounding Toronto 42-35. The Wings converted that advantage into a decisive 20-6 edge in second-chance points, a key factor in the outcome.
A pair of free throws from Bueckers midway through the fourth quarter helped extinguish any hopes of a Tempo comeback and secured the victory.
Dallas next travels to face the defending champion New York Liberty on Tuesday, while Toronto returns home to host the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday.
