Leah: “I don’t feel like I’m done”

Leah Williamson says she still has more to give after committing her future to Arsenal W.F.C., marking two decades with the club.

Speaking after signing her new contract, she explained that leaving never felt like the right option, stressing her deep connection to the people, the project, and the club itself. Even after 20 years, she feels valued and remains motivated to stay.

Williamson also revealed that her Arsenal tattoo reflects her lifelong support as a fan, separate from her playing career, describing the club as home and praising its strong sense of community.

Reflecting on winning the biggest prize in club football, she said her main aim is to be remembered for giving everything to the team rather than chasing individual accolades. Sharing that success with long-time teammates made the achievement even more meaningful, especially considering the bonds formed over the years.

She highlighted how emotional those post-match moments are looking at teammates and recognising the shared effort and care, while likening the club to a family. Celebrating with her own family, including her father wearing an Arsenal shirt despite being a rival supporter, made the occasion even more memorable.

Williamson also chose to place her winner’s medal in the club museum, saying it was more important to contribute to Arsenal’s history than to keep it personally, as she already knows what the achievement meant.

Seeing the legacy of past teams displayed at the stadium reinforced the significance of their own success, making her realise how impactful their victory was and how it could be remembered for years to come.

She acknowledged the pressure and expectations that come with playing in front of large home crowds, especially as defending champions, but emphasised that the team is still evolving and striving for higher levels rather than settling after one major win.

Finally, Williamson made it clear she is far from finished, saying both she and the team are focused on improving, winning consistently, and continuing to grow. Her strong attachment to the club and the people around it remains a key reason for staying, as she believes there is still more to achieve together.
