Beau Greaves made history by becoming the first woman to win a PDC ranking title, edging out Michael Smith 8-7 in a thrilling Players Championship 11 final in Milton Keynes.
The 22-year-old sealed the victory in the निर्णing leg with a 142 checkout, finishing on double 11. Earlier in the match, she produced a standout 170 checkout and ended with an impressive 80% checkout rate alongside a 96.49 average.
Her route to the title was equally notable, as she defeated former world champions Rob Cross in a tight quarter-final (6-5) and Gary Anderson convincingly in the semi-final (7-1).
This milestone adds to a rapidly rising career, following her 114-match winning streak in the PDC Women’s Series and her landmark nine-dart finish on the ProTour.
Reflecting on her triumph, Greaves said she had enjoyed a strong year but never expected to claim a title of this level. She expressed pride in her performance and disbelief at beating players she had grown up watching, adding that she hopes to build on this success.
Elsewhere in the tournament, world number two Luke Humphries exited in the third round after losing 6-5 to Max Hopp, while Premier League competitors Stephen Bunting and Josh Rock were eliminated in the opening round.
Several top names were absent, including world champion Luke Littler, as well as Michael van Gerwen, Jonny Clayton, Gerwyn Price, and Nathan Aspinall.
The Players Championship season consists of 34 events, culminating in finals at Minehead in November featuring the top 64 players. Following her latest victory, Greaves has climbed to fifth in the order of merit.
