Good News: Stina Blackstenius has committed her future to Arsenal W.F.C. by signing a new two-year deal.

The 30-year-old striker, who arrived from BK Häcken FF in 2022, has netted 64 times in 152 appearances across all competitions for the Gunners. This season, she has contributed seven goals and three assists in 15 Women’s Super League matches, along with a crucial strike in the Champions League quarter-final victory over Chelsea F.C. Women.

Blackstenius has built a reputation as a decisive impact player, frequently delivering off the bench. She famously scored a late winner in last season’s Champions League final against FC Barcelona Femení. Her knack for big moments also includes an extra-time goal to secure the Women’s League Cup in 2024 against Chelsea, and another late winner versus Manchester City W.F.C. in the 2023 semi-finals.

Although she has started just six league matches this term, she has formed an effective partnership with Alessia Russo. Arsenal currently sit third in the Women’s Super League, just two points behind Chelsea with two games in hand.

Club insiders highlight her contrasting style to Russo as a key tactical asset, making her contract renewal a priority ahead of the summer window. Beyond her goalscoring, she is highly valued for her off-ball movement and ability to create space for teammates.

During her time at Arsenal, Blackstenius has lifted four major trophies, including the Champions League and two League Cups, and finished as the club’s top scorer in both the 2022–23 and 2023–24 campaigns.

On the international stage, she has been instrumental for Sweden women’s national football team, helping them secure Olympic silver medals in 2016 and 2020, as well as third-place finishes at the 2019 and 2023 World Cups.

Arsenal now turn their attention to a Champions League semi-final clash against Olympique Lyonnais Féminin.
