Snooker action briefly came to a standstill as Ronnie O’Sullivan produced a remarkable, record-breaking moment during the World Open.

The 50-year-old, widely known as “The Rocket,” compiled an extraordinary 153 break in his dominant whitewash victory over Ryan Day. He wrapped up the frame in just 14 minutes, finishing with a total of 169 points.

The historic break drew attention across the arena, with even fellow professionals pausing to take it in. Mark Allen and Wu Yize, who were competing in their own match at the time, stopped play to watch O’Sullivan in full flow.

Cameras captured the moment as O’Sullivan sank the final pink and black balls, sealing the milestone. Allen was seen smiling in appreciation before returning to resume his match.

The clip quickly spread online, where fans praised the gesture, calling it a show of respect, sportsmanship, and recognition of a special moment in the sport.

This latest feat adds to O’Sullivan’s long list of achievements. He already holds records for the most century breaks, the most competitive 147s, and the most Triple Crown titles. He also stands as both the youngest and oldest winner of the UK Championship, having first claimed it at 17 in 1993 and most recently at 47 in 2023.
