Coldplay’s Next Chapter: Chris Martin and His Bandmates Leave Fans Waiting for What Comes Next
Coldplay’s huge touring era may have reached a pause, but the band’s story continues to attract enormous attention as fans look ahead to what Chris Martin and his longtime bandmates could do next.
The group — Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion — have spent years building one of the biggest live shows in modern music. Their Music of the Spheres World Tour became a major global success, with the band performing across continents and bringing their colourful production and familiar catalogue to millions of fans.
Their touring success has also continued to inspire films and other visual projects. In 2025, Coldplay: Music of the Spheres — Live at River Plate captured the band’s sold-out Buenos Aires performances, including footage from their 10-night run at the city’s River Plate stadium.
Coldplay have also continued experimenting with film beyond conventional concert documentaries. A Film for the Future, released in January 2025, was created as a visual companion to the band’s Moon Music album. The 44-minute project brought together more than 150 visual artists from 45 countries.
The band’s relationship with documentaries goes back much further. The 2018 film Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams, directed by Mat Whitecross, explored the group’s rise from their early days to global stadium success. It combined archive footage, interviews and performances from their A Head Full of Dreams era.
That history makes Coldplay’s next move particularly interesting to fans. However, there is currently no official announcement confirming a new Coldplay tour for 2027. The band’s official tour page currently states that there are no dates scheduled and invites fans to sign up for future announcements.
Rather than confirming a reunion next year, the available information points to a period of uncertainty over when the four musicians will return to the road together.
That does not mean Coldplay have disappeared. The band’s official website continues to carry news about projects, performances and releases, while their catalogue remains active across streaming and other platforms.
For fans, the wait itself has become part of the excitement. After years of enormous stadium shows, colourful productions and emotional performances, another Coldplay era would inevitably attract significant attention whenever it is officially announced.
Chris Martin has also remained closely associated with the band’s creative direction, while Buckland, Berryman and Champion remain central to the sound that has defined Coldplay since the group’s formation.
For now, though, there is no confirmed 2027 reunion or tour schedule to point to. Any claims that the band are definitely returning next year should therefore be treated cautiously until Coldplay themselves announce dates.
What is clear is that the band’s touring legacy remains enormous, and their concert films and visual projects continue to give fans new ways to experience their music while waiting for whatever comes next.
Coldplay’s next chapter may not yet have a confirmed date, but interest in the band remains firmly alive.
