The Philadelphia 76ers have officially confirmed the signing of NBA legend LeBron James, marking the start of a new chapter in the four-time champion’s illustrious career.
James arrives in Philadelphia after spending 23 seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers. The 22-time All-Star is the NBA’s all-time leading scorer with 43,440 career points and has accumulated four league MVP awards, four Finals MVP honours and a record 21 All-NBA selections.
Managing partner Josh Harris hailed the acquisition, describing James as one of the greatest players in basketball history. He expressed excitement about seeing the veteran forward team up with Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe and the rest of the 76ers squad as the franchise pursues an NBA championship. Harris also welcomed James and his family to Philadelphia.
The 40-year-old joins the 76ers after averaging 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds for the Lakers during the 2025-26 season. He will wear his familiar No. 23 jersey with Philadelphia.
