PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – WVU Medicine Camden Clark welcomed the Mid-Ohio Valley community to its Health and Wellness Center in Parkersburg for its annual Health & Wellness Day.
Attendees had the opportunity to explore various health programs and screenings, along with the chance to receive discounted EKG vouchers, thanks to a collaboration with the Parkersburg Rotary Club.
Jill Parsons, a representative of the Parkersburg Rotary, emphasized the significance of the partnership and the impact of the voucher initiative.
“The Rotary Club works closely with WVU Medicine Camden Clark to offer affordable blood screening vouchers,” said Parsons. “Whenever there’s a public health fair like this, we participate by setting up a booth to sell lab vouchers at a reduced cost. It’s a valuable opportunity, especially compared to what someone might typically pay through insurance or with a copay.”
WVU Medicine President Sean Smith and Camden Clark Foundation Executive Director Kim Couch highlighted the importance of making these screenings and programs available to the public.
“This event increases access to healthcare for individuals who might not otherwise receive it,” Smith stated. “It also allows us to engage directly with the community, raise awareness about available services, and offer valuable education.”
Couch added,
“We’re here discussing foundation events and how we support the hospital, but more importantly, this is about giving people tools and opportunities to manage their own health effectively.”
