WVU Football Hopes To Land Next Great In-State Native With Class of 2026 OL Prospect Hurricane native Da’Ron Parks, currently playing in Florida, could be the next in-state star for the Mountaineers.

A standout football talent originally from West Virginia may be eyeing a return to his roots for the next chapter of his career.

Da’Ron Parks, a four-star offensive lineman according to both Rivals and the 247Sports Composite, transferred to Florida to finish his high school football journey. Despite moving south, he remains closely connected to his home state and has included West Virginia University in his list of top collegiate options a development that should encourage Mountaineer fans.

Parks recently released his Top 12 college choices, with WVU securing a spot among elite programs vying for his commitment. Before relocating, Parks began his high school career at Hurricane High School in West Virginia. He now suits up for Cardinal Mooney High in Sarasota, Florida, and has since attracted interest from many powerhouse programs across the country.

At 6-foot-5 and 325 pounds, Parks is viewed as a high-upside recruit with the potential to significantly impact any offensive line. Rivals currently ranks him No. 213 nationally in the Class of 2026 and 27th in talent-rich Florida. He has drawn praise throughout the offseason for his dominant camp performances, frequently overpowering top defensive linemen and showcasing what Under Armour All-America Game Director Billy Tucker described as “impressive mobility at his size.”

Although Rivals’ current projection has him committing to Auburn, WVU remains very much in the mix. Should Parks ultimately choose the Mountaineers, he would follow in the footsteps of recent in-state linemen who’ve become key contributors players like Zach Frazier, Nick Malone, Sean Martin, Doug Nester, and brothers Dante and Darius Stills.

With 12 programs still under consideration, Parks’ decision is far from final. But the door remains wide open for a potential homecoming. Mountaineer fans hoping for another top-tier lineman to bolster the trenches in Morgantown will just have to wait and hope Parks decides that home is where his heart, and future, belong.
