Amid the buzz surrounding West Virginia football’s pre-spring press conference, significant recruiting news emerged for the Mountaineers.
Four-star quarterback Brodie McWhorter, a top Class of 2026 prospect, has narrowed his list of potential schools to seven, with WVU making the cut. Also included in his final choices are Indiana, Syracuse, Wisconsin, Auburn, Mississippi State, and Colorado.
McWhorter, a Kingston, Georgia native, is ranked No. 166 nationally, the No. 26 overall recruit in Georgia, and the 14th-ranked quarterback in his class, according to Rivals.
Sharing his excitement on social media, McWhorter praised the WVU coaching staff and the atmosphere in Morgantown, writing, “All Glory to God! There is nothing else like Morgantown, and who wouldn’t want to play for Coach Brown? More than grateful for the WVU staff.”
The talented quarterback is scheduled to visit WVU on April 4, just ahead of the Mountaineers’ Gold-Blue Spring Showcase. He will also take an official visit to Wisconsin on April 25.
A Possible Return to WVU?
McWhorter was initially committed to West Virginia but decommitted on December 2, just one day after Neal Brown’s departure as head coach. Now, with Rich Rodriguez back in Morgantwn, the Mountaineers are making a strong push to reclaim the promising signal-caller. Rodriguez, known for his quarterback-driven system, will likely roll out the red carpet during McWhorter’s visit.
According to Rivals’ Fan Futurecast, WVU has a 68% chance of securing McWhorter’s recommitment, with Indiana trailing at 17.3%. Mountaineer fans are eager to see if WVU can land the highly touted prospect once again. Meanwhile, the team is set to kick off spring practice this Tuesday.
