The 2025 WTA season is nearing its conclusion, with only one major tournament remaining the WTA Finals, returning to Riyadh for the second consecutive year after debuting there in 2024.
Who’s Competing?
Following Elena Rybakina’s quarterfinal win over Victoria Mboko at the Pan Pacific Open, the final eight-player lineup is confirmed. Rybakina clinched the last available spot ahead of Mirra Andreeva, completing the “Elite 8”.
Leading the pack is World No. 1 and US Open champion Aryna Sabalenka, followed by No. 2 Iga Swiatek, the reigning Wimbledon champion.
Four Americans follow: Coco Gauff (No. 3), Amanda Anisimova (No. 4), Jessica Pegula (No. 5), and Madison Keys (No. 6) who won the Australian Open.
Rybakina is No. 7 and may overtake Keys if she reaches the Tokyo final, while Jasmine Paolini rounds out the field at No. 8.
Current WTA Race Standings:
1. Aryna Sabalenka – 9,990 pts
2. Iga Swiatek – 8,303 pts
3. Coco Gauff – 6,573 pts
4. Amanda Anisimova – 5,897 pts
5. Jessica Pegula – 5,183 pts
6. Madison Keys – 4,395 pts
7. Elena Rybakina – 4,350 pts

Reserves
Two alternates are on standby in case of injury or withdrawal. Mirra Andreeva (No. 9), who has qualified in doubles, is expected to serve as the first reserve, with Ekaterina Alexandrova (No. 10) as the second.
Format
The eight players are divided into two groups of four, based on rankings. Each player plays three round-robin matches worth 200 points per win.
The top two from each group move to the semifinals.
Group winners face runners-up from the opposite group.
The final decides the champion.
Tiebreakers are determined by head-to-head results, then by sets and games won if necessary.
Ranking Points
An undefeated champion can earn 1,500 ranking points — 600 from the group stage, 400 for the semifinal win, and 500 for winning the final. In 2024, Gauff earned 1,300 points after winning the title with a 2–1 group stage record.
Prize Money
While a full breakdown hasn’t been confirmed, total prize money will be $15.5 million, slightly higher than 2024’s $15.25 million.
Base appearance fee (2024): $335,000
