WON AND DONE:  Kellogg is the Tenth-winningest active Division I women’s basketball coach in the country by winning percentage with a 495-136 (.784) career record…

Morgantown, WV — As West Virginia University (WVU) women’s basketball prepares for what promises to be a pivotal season, head coach Mark Kellogg is receiving national recognition for a milestone achievement. Kellogg has officially been named the tenth-winningest active Division I women’s basketball coach in the country by winning percentage, boasting an impressive 495-136 (.784) career record.

Now entering his third season at the helm of the Mountaineers, Kellogg’s winning ways have quickly translated to success in Morgantown, and his consistent track record of excellence is turning heads nationwide.

A Career Built on Consistency

Kellogg’s rise through the coaching ranks has been marked by sustained dominance. Over nearly two decades as a head coach, he has built competitive programs at every stop—from Division II powerhouses to Division I programs—and his teams have made postseason appearances a regular occurrence.

What sets Kellogg apart is not only his ability to win but also the consistency with which he does it. A .784 winning percentage places him among elite company, ahead of many high-profile names in the sport. He has reached the 20-win mark in 15 of his last 17 seasons and has done so with a player-first approach rooted in development, discipline, and culture.

“Winning is about more than just the scoreboard,” Kellogg said. “It’s about building a program where athletes thrive on and off the court. I’ve been fortunate to coach great players and work with great staff at every stop.”

Impact at West Virginia

Since arriving in Morgantown in 2023, Kellogg has made a tangible impact on WVU women’s basketball. In just two seasons, he led the Mountaineers to an NCAA Tournament appearance and a Sweet 16 berth—the program’s first in over 30 years. His up-tempo, defensive-minded system has energized the roster and captivated fans, leading to a surge in support both on campus and across the state.

As he prepares for his third season, Kellogg has already established a foundation of success that suggests WVU is on the cusp of sustained national relevance.

“Coach Kellogg has elevated our program in every way,” WVU Athletic Director Wren Baker said. “His record speaks for itself, but even more important is the culture of competitiveness, accountability, and growth he’s created here. We believe the best is yet to come.”

Looking Ahead

The Mountaineers are expected to return a core of experienced players alongside a promising recruiting class, including two high-profile additions Kellogg secured after WVU’s NCAA Tournament run. With momentum building and expectations growing, the spotlight is now firmly on Kellogg and his team.

Still, the veteran coach remains focused on the process, not just the accolades.

“I’m proud of the winning percentage, of course,” Kellogg said. “But what drives me is helping young women grow as players, leaders, and people. If we keep doing things the right way, the wins will keep coming.”

With a 495-136 career record and a top-10 ranking among active coaches, Mark Kellogg isn’t just winning games—he’s building a legacy.
