WNBA Dallas Wings Paige Bueckers gives unfiltered look into ‘chemistry’ with girlfriend Azzi Fudd.

Paige Bueckers recently opened up about her relationship with Azzi Fudd during an episode of Instagram’s Close Friends Only podcast. The WNBA All-Star joined her longtime friend and former UConn teammate to reflect on how their connection, which began in their teenage years, has grown into a romantic partnership.

Fudd recalled first meeting Bueckers at a USA Basketball camp in high school, long before either chose UConn, and said she immediately felt a spark. Bueckers remembered the on-court chemistry too, but jokingly added that it wasn’t until a long plane ride home that she realized how well their personalities clicked.

The conversation moved fluidly between lighthearted and heartfelt moments, giving listeners a look at what bonds them beyond basketball. When asked about her favorite WNBA player, Fudd instantly answered, “Probably Paige Bueckers,” a response that made her admiration clear. Bueckers, meanwhile, named Napheesa Collier but got teased by Fudd for not saying herself.

Bueckers also revealed that her Instagram “Close Friends” Story is mostly filled with jokes and silly posts, which shows a playful side that defines their dynamic off the court. That same mix of fun and competitiveness surfaced when the two debated who had the “prettier” jump shot—Fudd claimed hers was, while Bueckers insisted hers was “sexier,” thanks to her creative, off-beat style.

Fashion even became a playful topic. Contrary to assumptions, Bueckers clarified that she doesn’t borrow Fudd’s clothes—in fact, it’s the opposite. Fudd admitted she takes nearly everything from Paige’s closet, from hoodies to jeans, with the exception of shoes.

The episode also highlighted how their personalities balance each other. Fudd described Paige as more outgoing and fiery, while she herself tends to be quieter and steadier. Yet, she explained, their ability to adapt and give one another what’s needed in the moment comes from years of deep understanding and emotional closeness.
