Wings Release Two of Paige Bueckers’ Teammates on Saturday..

Mikiah Herbert Harrigan and McKenzie Forbes had been competing for reserve roles on the Dallas Wings, aiming to join the rotation alongside incoming No. 1 overall pick Paige Bueckers.

Herbert Harrigan joined Dallas following a standout collegiate career at South Carolina, where she won an NCAA title in 2017 and was named the 2020 SEC Tournament MVP. Her WNBA journey has included stops with Minnesota, Seattle, and Phoenix. Forbes, selected in the third round of the 2024 draft, had an impressive college run at Cal, Harvard, and USC, earning All-Pac-12 honors and a tournament MVP award, before playing professionally overseas.

However, on Saturday, the Wings announced via their X account that both players had been waived, trimming their training camp roster and officially ending their bids for spots on the 2025 opening-day roster. Herbert Harrigan had joined camp in February through a deal following a four-team trade, while Forbes earned an invite after a strong showing with Australia’s Waverley Falcons in 2024 (NBL1 South).

Now, both athletes will look for opportunities with other teams, as Dallas narrows its focus to building around its key players and top draft pick.

Coming off a disappointing 9-31 season in 2024, the Wings are now preparing to finalize their lineup around star Arike Ogunbowale and rookie sensation Bueckers. At UConn, Bueckers was a multi-time All-American, led the Huskies to the Final Four in her freshman year, and helped end the program’s nine-year championship drought in April 2025.

With the regular season set to begin on May 16, the spotlight shifts to how Bueckers adapts to the professional level and whether she and Ogunbowale can drive a turnaround for Dallas.
