Former Boston Celtics Sixth Man of the Year Malcolm Brogdon remains a free agent, with speculation swirling about his next destination. Some see the Golden State Warriors as a possible landing spot, while others think he may end up taking a role with a lesser team.
Brogdon, however, appears better suited for a contender. According to The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski, several playoff-caliber teams have shown interest, including the Minnesota Timberwolves, who reached out to him for their final roster spot. Krawczynski reported that the Wolves have considered Brogdon, Cam Payne, and Landry Shamet, but Bones Hyland is currently the favorite. Hyland, who signed a two-way deal in February, split time between the G League’s Iowa Wolves and the Timberwolves last season.
While Brogdon landing in Minnesota seems unlikely, the team could opt for a veteran backup rather than hand the role entirely to Hyland. With Mike Conley and Rob Dillingham already in place, Brogdon could provide valuable insurance in case of injuries. The Wolves are aiming for an NBA title next season, and Hyland alone may not give them the depth needed for that push.
