West Virginia guard turns heads with jaw-dropping performance at NBA Draft Combine.

A former West Virginia Mountaineer is starting to turn heads for all the right reasons.

Javon Small, who served as WVU’s starting point guard during the 2024-2025 season, is one of 75 players participating in drills and scrimmages at this year’s NBA Draft Combine, held in Chicago from May 11–18.

On Monday, Small captured the attention of scouts by sinking an eye-popping 46 consecutive three-pointers during shooting drills. Jonathan Givony of Draft Express highlighted the performance, tweeting, “46 straight 3s for West Virginia’s Javon Small. Popular sleeper with NBA teams who has a lot to gain with a strong NBA Combine in Chicago this week.”

This video game-like display came on the same day ESPN’s latest mock draft projected Small as a late second-round pick, following the conclusion of the NBA Draft Lottery.

Small had a standout year in his lone season with the Mountaineers, after transferring from Oklahoma State where he played one season and East Carolina, where he spent two years. At WVU, he led the team in both scoring and assists and tied for the Big 12 scoring title. His performance earned him both all-conference and All-American honors.
