The West Virginia men’s basketball team has officially added another member to its 2025-26 roster. On Monday afternoon, head coach Ross Hodge announced the signing of transfer guard Morris Ugusuk from South Carolina. The 6-foot-4, 170-pound guard had previously committed to WVU on May 4th.
“Morris brings valuable experience, having played in the NCAA Tournament,” Hodge said in a statement. “He’s a high-character individual and embodies the type of person we want representing West Virginia University and the state.”
Ugusuk played two seasons with the Gamecocks, appearing in 62 games and starting six times all during the most recent season. As a freshman, he saw limited action, averaging 2.2 points in just over 10 minutes per game. In his sophomore campaign, he played a larger role off the bench, averaging 22.3 minutes, 5.9 points, and 1.4 rebounds per game. He also shot 38% from the field and an impressive 40% from three-point range.
He scored in double figures six times during the season all against Power Four conference opponents. His standout performance came in a close loss to Vanderbilt, where he led South Carolina with 20 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.
Ugusuk arrives in Morgantown with two years of NCAA eligibility remaining.
