USC Coach Sends Honest JuJu Watkins ACL Recovery Update..

USC Trojans head coach Lindsay Gottlieb provided an update on JuJu Watkins' recovery from an ACL tear.

One of the most heartbreaking moments of the 2024–25 women’s college basketball season occurred on March 24, when USC Trojans standout sophomore JuJu Watkins suffered an ACL tear during the team’s second NCAA tournament game.

The injury happened early in the game as Watkins drove to the basket and collapsed to the floor without contact. Those familiar with ACL injuries feared the worst immediately, and their concerns were confirmed later that night. The injury not only crushed USC’s hopes for a national title, but also forced Watkins to undergo surgery and begin a tough recovery process—one that could keep her sidelined for most, if not all, of the 2025–26 season.

Despite the challenges ahead, Watkins is reportedly in good spirits. USC head coach Lindsay Gottlieb provided an update on April 17 during an interview with TMZ, sharing insight into Watkins’ current state both physically and mentally.

“We want to give JuJu the time she needs to heal and come back even stronger,” Gottlieb said. When asked directly about Watkins, she added, “She’s doing great. She’s locked in focused on her rehab.” While Gottlieb would love to see Watkins return to the court soon, she emphasized the importance of not rushing the recovery, ensuring that the 19-year-old is fully healthy before making her comeback.
