Although Azzi Fudd is no longer technically teammates with Paige Bueckers, the bond they share cemented by winning a national championship together remains strong. On Tuesday, Bueckers posted an emotional message on Instagram thanking UConn fans, writing, “The support and love has meant everything to me and I wouldn’t have been able to make it through without it.” Fudd, who will be returning to UConn next season, replied the following day with a heart and a crying emoji, reflecting her deep feelings.

Bueckers was chosen as the No. 1 overall pick by the Dallas Wings in the 2025 WNBA Draft. On Wednesday, she and the rest of the team’s draft class were formally introduced at a press conference in Dallas.

During her time at UConn, Bueckers averaged 19.9 points per game, while Fudd contributed 13.6 points per contest. The Huskies capped off their impressive season by defeating top-ranked South Carolina to secure their 12th NCAA national championship earlier this month.
