Tyrese Proctor has declared for the NBA draft‼️ Thank you for 3 great years and best of luck, says Jon scheyer…
DURHAM, N.C. — Duke Blue Devils guard Tyrese Proctor has officially declared for the 2025 NBA Draft, bringing an end to his college career after three seasons under head coach Jon Scheyer. The announcement was made via Proctor’s social media on Saturday afternoon, where he expressed gratitude to the Duke program and fans who supported him throughout his journey.
“It’s been an incredible ride,” Proctor wrote. “Duke has become a second home for me. I’ve grown so much — as a player and as a person — and I’ll forever be grateful for the opportunity to wear that Duke jersey. With that said, I’m excited to declare for the 2025 NBA Draft and take the next step in my basketball journey.”
Proctor, a 6-foot-5 combo guard from Sydney, Australia, arrived in Durham in 2022 as one of the most heralded international prospects in recent memory. Known for his poise, court vision, and perimeter defense, Proctor quickly earned a starting role in his freshman season and never looked back.
Over his three years at Duke, Proctor became a model of consistency and leadership. He averaged 11.3 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game across his collegiate career. While his stats were solid, it was his composure in late-game situations and his ability to guard multiple positions that made him a standout among scouts and coaches alike.
Proctor played a key role in Duke’s deep tournament runs and was often the steady hand that guided the Blue Devils through adversity. In his junior season, he took a major leap, improving his shooting percentages and establishing himself as a vocal leader both on and off the court.
Head coach Jon Scheyer praised Proctor in a heartfelt statement released shortly after the announcement.
“Thank you for three great years, Tyrese,” Scheyer said. “You’ve represented this program with class, toughness, and a team-first mentality every single day. Your growth here has been special to watch, and we know even bigger things are ahead for you. Best of luck in the NBA — you’ll always be part of the Brotherhood.”
Proctor is projected by many analysts to be a late first-round to early second-round pick in the upcoming draft. His defensive versatility, high basketball IQ, and playmaking skills make him a desirable prospect for teams looking for a mature, NBA-ready guard.
As Duke prepares for the 2025–26 season, Scheyer and his staff will look to reload once again, likely turning to a mix of incoming recruits and returning veterans to fill the void left by Proctor’s departure. While his absence will certainly be felt, his legacy is secure as one of the most respected players to come through the program in recent years.
With the draft approaching in June, Proctor will now shift his focus to pre-draft workouts and interviews as he begins the next chapter in his basketball career.
