LSU’s first points came in the women’s 10,000m, where newcomer Edna Chepkemoi set a school record of 32:10.75 to place sixth in her NCAA debut, earning three points for the Tigers. Her time smashed her previous best of 33:11.87 and made her just the second LSU athlete to dip under 33 minutes in the event.

The day began with a setback in the 4x100m relay, as the team of Machaeda Linton, Nasya Williams, Aniyah Bigam, and Tima Godbless placed third in their heat with 43.30s, initially missing out on qualification. However, after Georgia was penalized for an illegal exchange, LSU secured the final automatic qualifying spot.

Shortly after, Godbless returned in the women’s 100m, clocking a wind-assisted 10.91s matching her personal best to advance to Saturday’s final. She was one of six women to run under 11 seconds in the semis.

A major highlight came from Ella Onojuvwevwo, who shattered her own school record in the 400m, winning her heat with a stunning 50.31s. She not only booked her place in the final but also became Nigeria’s fastest woman in 25 years, improving on her previous mark of 50.57.

In the 800m, Michaela Rose maintained her impressive form, winning her semifinal heat in 1:58.95. Her time set a new NCAA Championship meet record, breaking the 35 year old mark of 1:59.11 by Wisconsin’s Suzy Favor.

Meanwhile, senior Johanna Duplantis capped her LSU career with a personal-best pole vault of 4.39m (14-4.75), finishing 11th in her NCAA debut. The mark ranks second in LSU history and eighth all-time in Sweden.
