The upcoming Deutschland Tour (August 20–24) and PostNord Danmark Rundt (August 12–16) will mark the return of several big-name riders to competition following the 2025 Tour de France, including Wout van Aert, Jonathan Milan, and Jasper Philipsen.
Fresh off his emotional stage victory on the Champs-Élysées, Van Aert is set to headline the Deutschland Tour, a five-stage race that kicks off with a short prologue in Essen. Known for its blend of hilly terrain and sprinter-friendly finishes, the race will offer opportunities for a variety of riders as it heads towards its finale in Magdeburg. Van Aert’s all-around ability makes him a top contender for both stage wins and the overall classification.
He’ll be joined by Jonathan Milan, who claimed the green jersey at the Tour de France with his dominance in the sprint stages. The Italian powerhouse will be eager to continue that form in Germany, targeting flat finishes and aiming to build momentum ahead of the season’s final one-day races.
Meanwhile, Jasper Philipsen, another top sprinter, will return to racing at the Danmark Rundt (Tour of Denmark). The five-day event is a staple in the late-summer calendar, featuring technical circuits, strong coastal winds, and short climbs that test riders’ versatility. Philipsen, a multiple stage winner at the Tour de France in previous years, is expected to be the man to beat in the bunch sprints.
These back-to-back stage races offer a chance for top riders to sharpen their form, collect UCI points, and prepare for the World Championships and autumn classics. With several teams fielding strong line-ups, fans can look forward to a competitive and entertaining late-summer stretch of racing in both Germany and Denmark.
