Eli Tomac began his KTM journey in spectacular fashion, securing a dominant win at the World Supercross Canadian GP.
After parting ways with Yamaha, Tomac chose the World Supercross Championship as the stage for his debut with the Austrian brand, and he immediately showcased his speed and confidence on the new bike.
Arriving in Vancouver as the defending World Supercross Champion, the 33-year-old delivered a polished performance that showed he has already settled comfortably into his KTM setup.
The BC Place crowd gave him strong support, though he faced heavy pressure throughout the race from Ken Roczen and Jason Anderson.
Tomac said, “This is an exciting moment for all of us, for me, Red Bull, and KTM. The track was tough and tricky, but it also gave opportunities to gain time. I had a great battle out there, and overall it was an amazing weekend in Vancouver.”
Roczen disappointed by his own errors
Ken Roczen admitted that mistakes cost him a chance to fight Tomac for the win.
“My speed and fitness were there, but I was just riding foolishly,” he said. “I kept jumping the whoops instead of skimming them. I managed to close the gap near the end, though. It was a good race, and I’m happy with how I rode and with finishing second.”
Anderson pleased with third
Jason Anderson claimed third place in just his second outing with Pipes Motorsport Group on a Suzuki.
“At the start of the day I was way off the pace,” Anderson said. “I’m still learning the bike, but I just wanted to keep progressing, and that’s what we did.”
