Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Makes a Firm Admission After Being Part of New York City Marathon for Special Cause..

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, known for her record-breaking speed on the track, took on a more heartfelt mission during the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon weekend. Instead of chasing medals, she focused on inspiring the next generation.

As part of a joint initiative by New York Road Runners and New Balance, the Olympic champion spent the weekend encouraging young runners, participating in a shoe giveaway event, and leading fitness activities for local children. Sharing photos on Instagram, she wrote, “New York I ❤️ U. What a wonderful week full of laughs, incredible people, and inspiring moments! Thank you [New Balance] for having me be a part of this year’s [NYC Marathon]!! It was such a blast. 🤗 Until next time 🫶🏽.”

For an athlete who owns the women’s 400m hurdles world record (50.65 seconds) and multiple global titles, the event showcased a different side of McLaughlin-Levrone one rooted in community, humility, and mentorship. Her presence elevated the event beyond branding, emphasizing empowerment and unity.

This passion for inspiring youth is consistent with what she shared in a September 2025 interview with Olympics.com: “It’s really an honor to have young athletes want to look up to me… I take that as a responsibility to represent well, so they can model someone who does things the right way humbly and honorably.”

McLaughlin-Levrone’s journey from a 16-year-old Olympic semifinalist to one of the fastest women in history (47.78s in the 400m) continues to inspire. Her career demonstrates that greatness isn’t just about breaking records, it’s about lifting others and creating lasting impact. From the track to the community, her legacy of leadership and inspiration keeps growing stronger.
