Christian Coleman’s vision for the Christian Coleman Invitational continues to grow, and the 2025 edition proved to be the biggest yet. What started in 2020 with just a handful of Georgia-based schools has now expanded to nearly 50 schools, including teams from neighboring states. This year’s meet, hosted by the Westlake Lions Track and Field team on March 15, even featured two-time world champion Sha’Carri Richardson as the special guest.
After the event, Coleman took to Instagram to express his gratitude, resharing a post from hilightssportsmedia, Coach Watson, and Coach Cage. He captioned it: “Great turn out for the CC Invitational. Truly motivational to receive so much love and be able to touch the youth in the sport that has given me so much. Already looking forward to next year.” His passion for fostering young talent remains strong, as nearly a thousand student-athletes participated, hoping to impress the three-time world champion.
The event’s growth over the past six years has been remarkable. In 2022, Coleman had shared his hopes of making the next meet even better, and by 2025, the invitational had grown significantly, drawing around 40 teams from Georgia alone, along with additional schools from Florida and Alabama. Westlake coach Jason Cage noted, “It’s growing and it’s going nationwide.”
Beyond competition, Coleman and his girlfriend made sure to thank fans by signing autographs and taking photos. One lucky fan even had his Nike spikes signed. Richardson, an inspiration in her own right, reposted Coleman’s story with a heartfelt message: “You the chosen one 🤞🏽 Thank you for all the things you do for your community! We got you! @_coleman2.”
The bond between Coleman and Richardson, first noticed at the 2023 World Athletics Championship, was on full display again this year as they stood side by side, supporting young athletes at the sixth annual Christian Coleman Invitational.
