Last season, Brandon Garrison served as the backup center to Amari Williams, and he occasionally displayed significant potential for the Wildcats.
In his sophomore year with Kentucky, Garrison posted averages of 5.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game, shooting 50.9% from the field and 30% from beyond the arc. A former McDonald’s All-American, Garrison was a player Kentucky fans were eager to watch develop further in Lexington. However, there are now growing concerns about his return.
Garrison recently removed all Kentucky-related content from his social media bio, sparking speculation. While social media activity isn’t always an accurate indicator, it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on.
Head coach Mark Pope has already added frontcourt players Jayden Quaintance and Mouhamed Dioubate through the transfer portal, and five-star recruit Malachi Moreno is expected to join for the 2025-26 season. Garrison, who showed promise as both a post player and floor spacer during his freshman campaign behind Williams, has the tools to become an NBA prospect with a strong season.
So far, Garrison hasn’t made any public statements regarding his plans. Still, the situation warrants close attention. If he enters the transfer portal, it would be a significant blow to Coach Pope and the Wildcats, who would then likely need to pursue another big man in the portal.
