Shane van Gisbergen signs multi-year contract extension with Trackhouse.

Shane van Gisbergen made an instant impact on NASCAR in 2023, winning the Chicago Street Course Cup race in his debut appearance. The three-time Supercars champion from New Zealand has since transitioned to a full-time NASCAR career, with 2025 marking his rookie Cup Series season. At 36, he has already captured three victories at the inaugural Mexico City race, Chicago Street Course, and Sonoma Raceway.

While continuing to refine his oval racing, van Gisbergen’s exceptional talent on road and street courses has secured him a playoff spot and put him on track for Rookie of the Year honors. On Friday, Trackhouse Racing announced a multi-year contract extension to keep him in the No. 88 Chevrolet for years to come.

“Trackhouse feels like home,” van Gisbergen said in the team’s statement. “They gave me my first NASCAR opportunity in Chicago in 2023. That was supposed to be one race, but everything since then has come from Justin [Marks] taking that chance. The team has made me feel welcome in this new challenge, and I’ve loved every minute of it. We still have plenty to achieve, but I couldn’t be happier.”

In fewer than 40 Cup starts, van Gisbergen has already tied the record for most wins in a rookie season. Ross Chastain remains the driver of the No. 1 Chevrolet, while Daniel Suarez will leave at season’s end, with no replacement yet announced for the No. 99.

“We’re witnessing one of racing’s true superstars,” said team owner Justin Marks. “What he’s doing is incredibly difficult relocating halfway across the globe, mastering a new style of racing, and at times dominating. He’s one of the best.”
