West Virginia running back Jahiem White’s season was cut short when he sustained a hamstring injury during the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl against Memphis, sidelining him for the entire second half.
This spring, White has been limited as he gradually works his way back into action, creating an opportunity for other running backs to step up and showcase their skills. However, head coach Rich Rodriguez is optimistic about White’s recovery, expecting him to be a full participant before spring practice concludes.
“It’s given the other guys a chance to show what they can do,” Rodriguez said. “Jahiem practiced today and did quite a bit. After the break, he might be full-go. He’s a proven player, so he just needs reps to learn the system, we already know what we have in him. But with the new guys like Tye (Edwards) and LJ (Turner), and (Diore) Hubbard getting plenty of reps, it’s been valuable for their evaluation. We’re still figuring out what we have with them.”
