The Mountaineers are looking to reload with All-OVC guard Tarence Guinyard

West Virginia University’s men’s basketball program has shown interest in UT Martin junior guard Tarence Guinyard, as reported by the Portal Report.

Guinyard made an immediate impact in his first season at the Division I level, averaging 16.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. His impressive performance earned him a spot on the All-Ohio Valley Conference first team, along with OVC All-Newcomer honors.

Standing at 6-foot-2, Guinyard showcased his scoring ability by recording a season-high 31 points on three separate occasions. He also delivered a standout performance against Tennessee Tech, posting a double-double with 26 points and a career-best 12 rebounds.

Before joining UT Martin, Guinyard spent two seasons at Florida State College at Jacksonville, where he started all 63 games. Over his two years, he accumulated 1,302 points (averaging 20.7 per game), 347 rebounds, 209 assists, and 131 steals. In his second season, he played a key role in leading the Blue Wave to a program-best 26 wins, contributing 21.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.1 steals per game.
