Pogacar, Vingegaard, Evenepoel, van der Poel – Velo d’Or reveals 10 male and female nominees.

The winners of the Vélo d’Or will be revealed on December 5th in Paris, and this Wednesday the list of male and female nominees was officially announced. Among the top contenders are Tadej Pogačar, Jonas Vingegaard, Remco Evenepoel, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, and Demi Vollering.

Tadej Pogačar, who previously claimed the award in 2021, is again the overwhelming favorite after another dominant season. The real contest appears to be for second place, likely between Mathieu van der Poel (winner of Paris-Roubaix and Milan–San Remo), Jonas Vingegaard (Tour de France runner-up and Vuelta a España champion), Remco Evenepoel (world and time trial champion), and Isaac del Toro, who finished second at the Giro d’Italia but amassed an impressive 16 professional victories this year.

Other notable nominees include Giro d’Italia winner Simon Yates, top sprinter Tim Merlier, and all-rounders João Almeida, Ben Healy, and Mads Pedersen.

On the women’s side, the competition is expected to be tighter—though notably missing is world champion Magdeleine Vallieres. The leading favorites include Pauline Ferrand-Prévot (winner of the Tour de France Femmes and Paris-Roubaix Femmes), Lorena Wiebes (Gravel World Champion and the year’s most prolific winner), Marlen Reusser (victorious in several stage races, as well as the World and European time trial titles), and Demi Vollering, whose consistency brought her major wins at Strade Bianche Donne, the Vuelta Femenina, and the European Championships.

Also in contention for high placements are Marianne Vos, Kim Le Court, Giro Donne winner Elisa Longo Borghini, Katarzyna Niewiadoma, Puck Pieterse, and Mischa Bredewold.
