Paige Bueckers’ latest move deeply worries Dallas..

Paige Bueckers’ WNBA Draft Destination in Question Amid Rumors

Paige Bueckers has been widely regarded as the top prospect for the 2025 WNBA Draft, but her landing spot may not be as clear-cut as once believed.

While early projections overwhelmingly placed the UConn star as the No. 1 overall pick for the Dallas Wings, new speculation suggests she may be eyeing a different destination most notably, the Los Angeles Sparks.

Despite this, Dallas Wings general manager Curt Miller remains firm in his stance that Bueckers is their primary target.

“How about them apples for the No. 1 pick?” Miller said recently, expressing confidence that the 23-year-old would end up in a Wings jersey.

Dallas secured the top draft pick in November 2024, and Bueckers’ continued dominance in college basketball has reinforced the expectation that she will be their selection. However, with draft night approaching, uncertainty is creeping into the conversation.

Conflicting Signals as Draft Day Nears

On a recent episode of the ‘Locked On: Women’s Basketball’ podcast, host Howard Megdal cast doubt on the assumption that Bueckers is locked in for Dallas.

“Given the circumstances, [Bueckers] has plenty of options… is she really committed to signing with Dallas?” Megdal questioned.

His remarks hint at growing speculation that Bueckers may not be entirely sold on joining the Texas-based franchise, even as Miller publicly expresses confidence.

Adding to the intrigue, Megdal pointed out a potential contradiction in Miller’s actions behind the scenes.

“Miller wouldn’t be setting up introductory Zoom calls for four other players if he was certain about Bueckers,” he noted.

This suggests that, despite Miller’s public statements, the Wings may be quietly exploring backup options should Bueckers choose to go a different route.

Nevertheless, Miller has continued to project confidence. Speaking to ‘The Dallas Morning News’, he emphasized that neither Bueckers nor any other top prospect has signaled hesitation about playing in Dallas.

“We have not received any indication that any player eligible for this draft would refuse to come to Dallas,” Miller stated. “In fact, Arike [Ogunbowale] has heard from many of the top prospects, and they’re all very excited about the possibility of teaming up with her.”

With rumors swirling, Bueckers’ final decision remains a key storyline as the draft approaches.
