Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers has already had her share of tough “Welcome to the WNBA” moments, but that didn’t stop her from holding her own against veteran Kelsey Plum.
Following the Wings’ loss to the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday night, Bueckers and Plum shared a lighthearted moment after the game. Plum, who joined the Sparks in a major trade earlier this season, could be heard asking Bueckers, “Are you okay?” a sincere gesture, considering Bueckers had recently missed three consecutive games due to a concussion.
True to her competitive spirit, Bueckers responded with some playful trash talk. As Plum walked away, she jokingly remarked, “Rookies talking s— is crazy.”
This game marked the first head-to-head between Plum and Bueckers this season, and it likely won’t be the last. Before the draft, Bueckers the top pick in 2025 was rumored to prefer joining the Sparks, but the former UConn standout had downplayed any such speculation.
WNBA fans were thrilled to see the two stars share a fun and friendly exchange after the buzzer.
