Paige Bueckers has done something for UConn that’s never been done in college, NBA or WNBA..

UConn women’s basketball star Paige Bueckers has already cemented her legacy with several historic achievements during her time in Storrs. Fittingly, she delivered another record-setting performance in her final game at Gampel Pavilion.

Bueckers led the No. 2 seed Huskies to a dominant 91-57 victory over No. 10 seed South Dakota State in the second round of the NCAA tournament. The three-time Big East Player of the Year matched her career-high with 34 points, shooting an efficient 14-of-21 from the field, 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 3-for-3 from the free-throw line. She also contributed three rebounds, four assists, four steals, and committed zero turnovers.

Even more remarkably, Bueckers has now joined the elite 50/40/90 club shooting at least 50% from the field, 40% from three-point range, and 90% from the free-throw line. Additionally, she boasts a 4.8-to-1.2 assist-to-turnover ratio, making her the only player in NCAA, WNBA, or NBA history to achieve these shooting splits while also leading in assist-to-turnover ratio.

UConn head coach Geno Auriemma acknowledged the significance of her accomplishment: “When you think about it, it’s incredible. No one at any level college or pro has done this for an entire season. That just shows how special Paige is.”

Bueckers reached 32 points by the start of the fourth quarter, just two shy of her personal best. Despite the lopsided score, Auriemma subbed her back in with 5:50 left, allowing her to sink a final jumper at the 3:51 mark before exiting to a standing ovation from the home crowd. “I wanted her to experience that appreciation one last time,” Auriemma said.

As UConn pushes for its first national championship since 2016, Bueckers’ efficiency and leadership will be key. “She was even more efficient today than usual,” Auriemma added. “She’s waited five years for this moment, and hopefully, there are plenty more ahead.”
