Olympic champion Noah Lyles to race 100m at London Diamond League..

American sprint sensation Noah Lyles delivered a commanding performance at the 2024 London Diamond League, clinching victory in the men’s 100 metres with a personal best of 9.81 seconds. This triumph, achieved into a slight headwind of -0.3 m/s, solidifies his status as a leading contender for Olympic gold in Paris.

Facing a formidable field that included Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo and Britain’s Zharnel Hughes, Lyles showcased his trademark finishing speed. Despite a modest start, he surged ahead after the 60-metre mark, outpacing South Africa’s Akani Simbine, who secured second place with a season-best 9.86 seconds, and Tebogo, who matched his personal and national record of 9.88 seconds.

Lyles’ performance places him third on the global leaderboard for 2024, trailing only Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson (9.77) and Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala (9.79). His victory in London follows a successful season, including a 9.83-second win at the U.S. Olympic Trials.

Known for his dynamic personality and confidence, Lyles, who also headlines the Netflix series “Sprint,” expressed his readiness for the Olympic stage, stating, “I live for the biggest moments, the more eyes the better I perform.”

As the Paris Olympics approach, Lyles aims to emulate Usain Bolt’s historic sprint double, with the men’s 100m final scheduled for August 4 and the 200m final on August 8.
