Nuggets Named Among Favorites to Land Heat’s $96 Million Guard in Offseason Trade.

The Denver Nuggets have now endured back-to-back second-round playoff exits, most recently falling to the Oklahoma City Thunder in a tough seven-game series.

Following another disappointing finish, the team may look to shake up the roster this offseason in hopes of building a stronger supporting cast around three-time MVP Nikola Jokic, who is coming off one of the best years of his storied career. While the Nuggets could choose to retain their core group Jokic, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, Michael Porter Jr., and Christian Braun some believe change is necessary to truly contend for another title.

One key decision Denver faces is what to do about veteran point guard Russell Westbrook. He declined his player option and is now set to become an unrestricted free agent. The Nuggets could attempt to bring him back, but if they opt not to or can’t work out a deal, they’ll need to find a new backup floor general.

Several names are floating around as potential targets, and one of them is Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier. Oddsmakers at Bovada currently give the Nuggets the second-best odds (+350) to land Rozier, just behind the Clippers (+325).

Rozier, entering the final year of his contract, had a rough season averaging just 10.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, while shooting poorly from both the field (39.1%) and beyond the arc (29.5%) in 64 appearances. Because of this decline, the Heat may not demand much in return. Still, the Nuggets might be hesitant given Rozier’s performance, though a new environment could potentially rejuvenate his game.
