Notre Dame Finally Receives Good Transfer Portal News After Olivia Miles’ Exit..

The Notre Dame women’s basketball team entered the NCAA Tournament as a No. 3 seed but saw its impressive season come to an end in the Sweet 16 with a loss to Hailey Van Lith and second-seeded TCU.

Things took a turn for the worse after the defeat when star guard Olivia Miles unexpectedly chose to skip the WNBA Draft and instead entered the transfer portal. In a surprising twist, she committed to TCU. Her departure triggered a wave of exits, with four of the team’s five starters leaving the program either through the portal or due to expiring eligibility, leaving Hannah Hidalgo as the lone returning starter.

However, there was some positive news on Wednesday regarding Notre Dame’s transfer activity, according to Talia Goodman of On3. The Irish added a new player, Sanchez, who began her college career at Arizona and spent the last two seasons at Kansas State. Although she mostly came off the bench this past season, she appeared in 27 games and contributed 4.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in just over 15 minutes per game.

Originally from Barcelona, Sanchez represented Spain at the 2023 FIBA U20 European Championships in Lithuania. With one year of eligibility remaining, she now heads to South Bend and could have an opportunity for increased playing time as Notre Dame looks to rebuild its roster.
