Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles is known for his speed on the track, but when it comes to his wedding planning, he’s taking things a little slower — and a lot more spontaneously.

Lyles, 27, and his fiancée, Jamaican sprinter Junelle Bromfield, recently opened up to The Knot about their upcoming spring 2026 wedding. The couple revealed that while many of the details are falling into place — the season, the vibe, and even some of the music — one thing Lyles isn’t stressing over is writing his vows.

“I’ll probably just wing it,” Lyles told The Knot with a laugh. “That’s what I did with the proposal. I had this whole plan, but then I got caught up in the moment and just spoke from the heart.”

That heartfelt spontaneity clearly worked — Bromfield said yes during the Paris Diamond League in July 2024, where Lyles surprised her with an on-track proposal after winning the 200m. The viral moment captured not only his athletic triumph but the joy of their personal milestone, cementing them as one of track and field’s favorite power couples.

In their interview, the couple shared that they’re envisioning a spring wedding that feels “elegant but personal,” likely held outdoors with lots of natural light, live music, and Caribbean influences reflecting both their roots and shared love for rhythm.

“We want it to feel like a celebration, not just a formal event,” Bromfield said. “Our families are so important to us, and so is joy. We want laughter, dancing, and probably a few tears.”

Though the couple is early in the planning process, they’ve already made a few decisions. They’re leaning toward a destination wedding and are considering Jamaica or a scenic U.S. location with warm weather and room for family and friends to gather comfortably.

As for fashion? Lyles said he hasn’t given much thought to his look just yet — “That’s Junelle’s world,” he joked — but Bromfield teased that she’s already started browsing for her dream dress.

“She’s the planner between the two of us,” Lyles admitted. “I’ll show up and cry. That’s my role.”

Still, Lyles’ impromptu approach to vows is something Bromfield embraces. “That’s who Noah is. He’s genuine in the moment, and that’s what makes everything he says feel so real. I’m excited to hear whatever he comes up with — as long as it’s not too short!”

Their playful chemistry was on full display throughout the interview, and it’s clear the couple is savoring the journey to the altar just as much as the big day itself.

With two world-class athletes at the center of it, their wedding is bound to be anything but ordinary — even if the vows are made up on the spot.
