Adams, a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro, joined the Jets in October 2024 after a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders. In his 11 games with New York, he recorded 67 receptions for 854 yards and seven touchdowns. Despite these contributions, the Jets struggled to find success, culminating in a season that fell short of expectations.
The decision to release Adams comes on the heels of the Jets parting ways with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, signaling a significant shift in the team’s strategy and roster composition. Attempts to trade Adams were unsuccessful, largely due to the substantial financial commitment remaining on his contract.
