Netflix to Release Explosive Documentary Legend of the Mofos of Metal This May…

Netflix has officially announced the release of a new high-voltage documentary, Legend of the Mofos of Metal, slated to premiere in May. The documentary promises to dive deep into the untamed world of one of heavy metal’s most outrageous and influential bands — the “Mofos of Metal.”

Known for their blistering guitar riffs, chaotic performances, and unapologetically rebellious attitude, the Mofos of Metal carved their name into rock history with blood, sweat, and distortion. The Netflix original will trace the band’s rise from grimy garage gigs in the early ‘80s to their explosive stadium tours and controversial media presence in the ‘90s and beyond.

Directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Jaxon Ward (Blood on the Tracks, Burning Strings), the documentary blends never-before-seen archival footage, interviews with surviving band members, and commentary from some of the biggest names in the metal scene, including Lars Ulrich, Corey Taylor, and Joan Jett.

“This isn’t just a story about a band — it’s a story about a cultural shift,” Ward said in a statement. “The Mofos were loud, chaotic, and sometimes dangerous, but they captured something raw and real. They were the soundtrack to rebellion.”

Formed in 1982 in Detroit, the Mofos of Metal quickly gained notoriety for their aggressive sound and even more aggressive antics. Frontman Rex “Razor” Malone became a symbol of metal defiance, known for smashing guitars, trashing dressing rooms, and challenging societal norms through his politically charged lyrics.

The film also delves into the darker chapters of the band’s history — including substance abuse, tragic losses, internal feuds, and their dramatic breakup in 2003. But it’s not all doom and gloom: Legend of the Mofos of Metal also captures the band’s 2019 reunion show, a thunderous comeback that drew over 60,000 fans in Los Angeles.

Netflix’s announcement has already lit up social media, with fans and musicians alike expressing anticipation. “About damn time someone told their story right,” tweeted metal guitarist Slash Vengeance. “These guys were the real deal.”

Netflix has recently leaned heavily into music documentaries, with past hits like Miss Americana (Taylor Swift), Homecoming (Beyoncé), and WHAM!. Legend of the Mofos of Metal is expected to follow in those footsteps — but with a lot more volume and a lot less filter.

The documentary premieres globally on **May 24**, exclusively on Netflix.

Whether you’re a lifelong metalhead or a curious newcomer, Legend of the Mofos of Metal is shaping up to be an unmissable ride into the heart of mayhem, music, and the legacy of a band that refused to be tamed.
