Livvy Dunne is making progress in her recovery from a knee injury and shared an encouraging update for LSU Gymnastics and fans.
The 22-year-old, now in her fifth and final season with the defending national champions, has been sidelined for over a month due to an avulsion fracture in her patella. While she was unable to compete on Senior Night in Baton Rouge, she still joined her teammates for the senior photo in her knee brace and kept up her usual leotard selfies.
Dunne also traveled with the team to Auburn last Friday, where she took on the role of an enthusiastic supporter, surprising teammates on the plane and bonding with freshman standout Kailin Chio. She even posed for a memorable photo with Auburn gymnastics legend Sunisa Lee.
With the SEC Championships approaching on March 22, followed by the NCAA tournament, fans are eager to see if Dunne will return in time to contribute. Head coach Jay Clark stated that her comeback will depend on pain management. Dunne recently shared an Instagram Story showing herself rehabbing, including running on an anti-gravity treadmill. Her caption, “we’re so back baby,” hinted at her determination to return.
While it remains uncertain if she’ll compete again this season, her ability to run is a promising sign for LSU’s hopes of defending their national title.
