Curious about the ab workouts it takes to ski at an elite level? Lindsey Vonn, the American skiing legend aiming for an Olympic return more than six years after her last Winter Games in PyeongChang, has shared the core exercises she’s been using to prepare.
We’ve compiled the exercises from her post below (some are adapted versions consult a trainer if you want the exact routine):
Lindsey Vonn’s Core Exercises
Superman Pull
Lying Swiss Ball Med Throw
Kettlebell Side Bend
Standing Plate Halo
Bench Leg Raises
Ab Wheel Rollouts
Half Kneeling Cable Twist
Medicine Ball Alternating Front Throw
Captain’s Chair Leg Raise
Hanging Straight Leg Raise
Plank
Medicine Ball Overhead Throw Sit-Up
Medicine Ball Leg Raise
Vonn explained that she trains her core four to five days a week for over an hour per session, performing about five of these moves each time. She does three sets of each exercise, pushing to her limit rather than counting reps.
Of course, her regimen is far from typical most people would need a serious recovery period afterward. But Vonn has big goals: she’s targeting the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. Her comeback began last winter, where she ended the World Cup season with two top-five finishes, including second place in the final super-G race in Sun Valley, Idaho. That podium made her the oldest woman at 40 to place in a World Cup race, proving she still has the skill and drive to compete at the sport’s highest level.
The new World Cup season opens in Soelden, Austria, this October with men’s and women’s giant slalom events. The Winter Olympics will follow in February 2026.
