Led Zeppelin will release a replica of the 7″ promotional single of “Trampled Underfoot” for Record Store Day on October 28, the band announced today.
October 28, 2025 — Legendary rock band Led Zeppelin has officially announced the release of a replica of the original 1975 UK 7-inch promotional single for “Trampled Underfoot,” set to hit shelves as part of this year’s Record Store Day Black Friday on November 28, 2025.
The special edition single, a faithful recreation of the rare promo originally distributed to UK radio stations, will feature “Trampled Underfoot” on the A-side and “Black Country Woman” on the B-side, just as it did 50 years ago. The original pressing has long been a collector’s item, and this marks the first time it will be officially reissued in this form.
Only 6,100 copies of the replica single will be released worldwide, making it one of the most limited Led Zeppelin vinyl reissues to date. Pressed on black vinyl, the 7″ will be packaged in a replica Atlantic Records house sleeve, preserving the look and feel of the original 1975 version.
According to the band’s official website, the audio on both tracks is sourced from the 2015 remasters of Physical Graffiti, meticulously overseen by guitarist Jimmy Page. Those remasters were part of a broader archival project that saw the band revisit and reissue their entire catalog with improved audio fidelity and bonus content.
The lacquers for this new pressing were cut at Metropolis Studios in London, ensuring top-tier audio quality for fans and collectors alike. This careful production process highlights the band’s ongoing commitment to quality in their physical releases, even decades after their prime.
The announcement comes after weeks of speculation among fans. A teaser post appeared briefly on the band’s website and social media in late September, only to be taken down within hours. The post was re-uploaded twice before today’s official confirmation.
This is not the first time Led Zeppelin has participated in Record Store Day. Previous exclusives, including a 7″ of “Rock and Roll” and “Friends,” have been popular with collectors and sold out quickly. However, a planned 2021 release of a replica Immigrant Song single was abruptly canceled, leaving fans cautious but hopeful about this year’s offering.
“Trampled Underfoot,” originally released as a single from Physical Graffiti in 1975, was inspired by Robert Johnson’s “Terraplane Blues” and featured a funky clavinet-driven groove played by John Paul Jones. It remains one of the band’s most danceable and rhythmically intense tracks.
Fans looking to secure a copy of the new release will need to visit independent record stores participating in Record Store Day Black Friday. According to retailers, any leftover stock may be sold online beginning November 29, but given the limited run, demand is expected to be high.
Led Zeppelin continues to find ways to celebrate their legacy through carefully curated releases, and this replica single is yet another nod to their enduring influence and the continued passion of their fanbase.
