Khaman Maluach Sends Clear Message to Departing Duke Teammate..

The Duke Blue Devils basketball program has experienced a major roster shift through the transfer portal following the conclusion of the 2024–25 college basketball season.

With the portal window closing Tuesday, players across the country are racing to make final decisions about their futures. Duke, like many top programs, has seen multiple players exit either via the portal or by declaring for the NBA Draft. Despite these changes, head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff remain confident that their 2025–26 squad is built to contend at the highest level.

Among the recent departures is a player whose absence will be felt more for his leadership than his stats. Known as a key locker room presence and “glue guy,” Stanley Borden has entered the transfer portal. Borden played a crucial off-court role in helping Duke reach the 2025 NCAA Final Four.

He shared a heartfelt message expressing gratitude to his coaches, teammates, and fans. His teammate, freshman standout Khaman Maluach, responded simply but sincerely: “Good luck Brodie.” Maluach, the 7-foot-2 center from South Sudan, wrapped up his first season at Duke averaging 8.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

Duke ended the season with a remarkable 35-4 record, including just one loss in conference play. The team reached the Final Four before falling to Houston in San Antonio.

Borden, who originally joined the Blue Devils from Turkey, became a four-time letterman during his career. Off the court, he made a strong impact as well. In May 2023, he was honored with the ACC’s Top Six for Service Award after organizing a 7.8-kilometer charity run to support earthquake relief efforts in Turkey and Syria.

His last appearance came against Wake Forest, where he logged two minutes and tallied a block.
