Kelsey Mitchell Sets Franchise Record Despite Fever’s Loss.

Kelsey Mitchell Sets Franchise Record Despite Fever’s Loss. The Indiana Fever dropped their second game in three outings, struggling to maintain playoff momentum without Caitlin Clark. Facing league leaders Minnesota Lynx at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the Fever were outpaced by Kayla McBride’s 29 points and Jessica Shepard’s triple-double of 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists.

Amid the setback, Kelsey Mitchell provided a bright spot. Scoring 27 points and dishing out five assists, the three-time All-Star not only led Indiana in scoring but also etched her name into franchise history. Mitchell set a new record for the most 20-point games in a single season for the Fever, logging her 20th such performance of the year and surpassing the previous mark of 19, held jointly by Caitlin Clark (2024) and Tamika Catchings (2003). She also extended her streak of 20-point games to five, maintaining averages of 20.6 points and 3.4 assists this season.

Mitchell, who has been with the Fever since being drafted second overall in 2018, expressed gratitude for the milestone. “It means more than people realize because I’ve been here the longest. They make me feel valued, and I feel the same about them. I love my teammates, and knowing they’d go out of their way to make this possible for me means a lot,” she said.

The Fever, now 19-17, will face the Lynx again in the second game of their double-header.
