Jordan Lesley, the former defensive coordinator for WVU, was cleared of a domestic battery charge.

Jordan Lesley, former defensive coordinator for the West Virginia University (WVU) Mountaineers football team, has had his misdemeanor domestic battery charge dismissed. The charge, which stemmed from his arrest in November 2024, was dropped in January 2025 by Magistrate Dimas Reyes, as per the West Virginia Magistrate Court system.

Lesley, 44, was arrested on November 9, 2024, in Monongalia County and booked at the North Central Regional Jail with bail set at $5,000. The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office handled the arrest. He later appeared before a magistrate, pleaded not guilty, and posted bond.

Lesley joined WVU’s football coaching staff in 2019 and held multiple roles, including defensive line coach, co-defensive coordinator, and eventually defensive coordinator. He served in that capacity for four and a half years under former Head Coach Neal Brown. However, on October 29, 2024, shortly after WVU’s road win against Arizona, Lesley was dismissed from his position. His departure was announced during the Mountaineers’ final bye week of the season. Jeff Koonz, previously the inside linebackers coach and special teams coordinator, was named as his replacement.

The domestic battery charge was officially dismissed in January 2025. While no specific reasons for the dismissal were disclosed, this outcome removes any legal complications for Lesley. Now that the case is closed, speculation turns to his future in college football.

With extensive experience in defensive coaching and player development, Lesley made significant contributions to WVU’s defensive performance. His next steps in the football world remain uncertain.
