Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla provided injury updates on Kristaps Porzingis and Sam Hauser after both exited early from Monday night’s Game 1 of the conference semifinals against the New York Knicks.
As of Tuesday, Mazzulla labeled both players as “day-to-day,” leaving their status uncertain for Wednesday night’s Game 2. Porzingis left the game after just 13 minutes due to an illness, missing all four of his shot attempts. However, Mazzulla noted, via the Boston Herald’s Zach Cox, that Porzingis was “feeling a little bit better” the following day.
Hauser, meanwhile, played only four minutes before suffering a right ankle sprain. According to Locked on Celtics’ John Karalis, his right foot was wrapped after the game. Hauser went 0-for-2 from the field before his exit.
It was a tough outing overall for Boston, who squandered a 20-point lead and lost 108-105 in overtime. They also set an unfortunate playoff record by missing 45 three-point attempts the most ever in a postseason game. Keeping their roster healthy will be critical as they try to bounce back from the loss.
