Jason Whitlock points to Caitlin Clark’s aggressive style as the key to unlocking true chemistry with Kelsey Mitchell…

Jason Whitlock has weighed in on the growing on-court chemistry between Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell, attributing their improved connection to Clark’s aggressive, take-charge style of play. According to Whitlock, Clark’s willingness to shoulder responsibility and push the pace is exactly what Mitchell has needed to thrive alongside a co-star who matches her scoring mentality.

“Caitlin doesn’t tiptoe around the moment,” Whitlock said. “She wants the ball, she wants to make plays, and that confidence frees up someone like Mitchell to do what she does best score efficiently without having to initiate everything.”

Mitchell, a seasoned veteran and pure scorer, had at times struggled to find consistency within the Fever’s offensive structure in previous seasons. But with Clark commanding defensive attention and attacking early in the shot clock, Mitchell has found more open looks and smoother opportunities in rhythm. Whitlock believes that Clark’s instinctive playmaking combined with her fearless approach creates a natural fit for Mitchell’s game.

“This isn’t about Clark taking over,” Whitlock clarified. “It’s about a rising star understanding that her aggression creates space for everyone else. Mitchell recognizes that and is responding with trust and movement.”

Whitlock also pointed to a noticeable shift in body language and communication between the two. “You can see it in the way they celebrate each other’s plays. There’s real chemistry building not just mutual respect, but a shared hunger to win.”

As the Fever continue to grow through a challenging season, Whitlock suggests that this dynamic duo could become one of the league’s most explosive backcourts  not by dominating individually, but by unlocking each other’s strengths. “It starts with aggression,” he concluded, “and Caitlin Clark brought that from day one.”
