Iron Maiden has been thrilling fans for 50 years, and among their many releases, one live album stands above the rest. Live After Death recently celebrated its 40th anniversary, and a special vinyl reissue has pushed it back onto several UK music charts earning the band a new achievement decades after the album first came out.
Thanks to strong sales of the new vinyl edition, Live After Death has topped the UK’s Official Rock & Metal Albums chart for the first time ever. When it originally appeared over 20 years ago, it only reached No. 31 and has spent just 16 weeks on the chart since then. Its return doubles the number of times it has placed inside the top 10.

With this latest success, Iron Maiden now holds 14 No. 1 albums on the Rock & Metal chart and 32 top-10 entries overall.
The reissue also helped the album debut at No. 5 on the Official Vinyl Albums chart, the band’s 18th top-10 finish there outperforming new releases from artists like Madonna and Jessie J.
Live After Death has reappeared on the Official Album Sales and Official Physical Albums charts as well. It previously charted briefly in 2020, but this time it lands inside the top 10 on both tallies, marking Maiden’s sixth top-10 on the sales chart and their 11th on the physical albums ranking.
The album even returns to the main Official Albums Chart for the first time since 1986, re-entering at No. 81. This is far from its original No. 2 peak back in 1985, but still a significant comeback.
The renewed interest follows the release of a special 40th-anniversary two-LP vinyl edition in blue and yellow. The set uses a 2015 remaster and includes extras like a refreshed booklet, the original 12-page insert, and a replica tour pass.
